checkered pasts, about what changes and what does not.

ELIZABETH IN FREEFORM By Orb Weaver

Elizabeth w/violets and dandelions

ELIZABETH IN FREEFORM

A not very encouraging beginning,
Here.  We cain’t keep’er no more.
Lucky you.  Lucky my best friend.
Lucky me.

I was your wuffler, your
Trained human,
And you never got enough,
Elizabeth Rex.

You, of glittery eye,
Barely veiled contempt,
Going comatose in my hands,
Drooling on my jeans.

You and I
Understood each other.
Evil spirits separated
At birth.

Love.
You were.
You are.

Radiant bows to a fellow cat person, one who truly gets it.

Now that the old Queen is dead, it'll be the new Queen's turn all the time!

AVEBURY

Solstice Song

The place of dreams,
Of ancestors and bones,
Of chalk and flint,
Of long-lost ceremonies and
The sacred hares’ circle dance.
Beneath Grandmother’s silvered rays,
We breathe magic
Charms of frost.

February Song

What does the wind hunt in the night?
Hurling sticks at my window,
Tearing too tall pines from sodden ground,
Sweeping lost souls into brown water,
Scouring bare limbs, the
Fat buds all armored in red.

At dawn, a wasted moon fades,
Commonplace Canadas cry,
But among them are snow geese
Plying black-tipped wings,
Singing sagas of their lost homeland,
Of poles and stars that have wandered,
Of solar storms,
Crashing like waves upon Mother Earth.

Bird-gleaned now this raw barren;
Wind dances frantic, alone.
Wild huntress, here searching, there seeking,
Warm blood and green leaves that burgeon
Beneath February's dark dolmen.

To A Scorpio

Oblique rays shine from her eyes
Of a thousand years--pure child.
Many cycles past, an autumnal lady watched
The breakers boom like iron upon Atlantic cliffs—
Her glances a falcon endlessly falling.
Breathless, see how fast she flies!
Lady in a cloak of November,
Magic slinks around you.

The Summons

Snaky necks black
Among cornshocks
Be-In of clans,
Feathered coverlet,
Mulched field
High blue above,
Walking, chatting, resting.

Some fly in,
Wings bowed
Dump speed for landing.
Some fly out,
On their way to
Lost Pangea.

As it is,
So it was.
Faithful through eons,
Through cataclysms of
Fire,
Frost,
And our slaughter,
Hearing, beyond
Man's stunted senses,
Magnetic Summons--

Fly Now,
Oh Brave Children
Of Archeopterix.
